Introduction to Hakomi Workshop

Using Mindfulness & the Body to Gently Support Change

With Maci Daye, L.P.C., Certified Hakomi Trainer

Location: British School of Shiatsu-Do

Dates: 26-28, May 2017

Schedule:  Friday 17.30-20.30, Saturday 10.00-18.00, Sunday 09.00-15.00

Cost:  280£ if registered by 1, April 2017, 310£ thereafter.  The price includes instruction and materials. Meals and accommodations are not included.

This workshop introduces participants to the basic principles and skills of the Hakomi Method to support personal and professional development. The goal of Hakomi is to uncover and alter unconscious motivations, beliefs and outdated frames of reference that negatively affect mood and relationships with self and others. The method uses experiments conducted in mindfulness and body awareness to gather information about unconscious processes. These techniques, coupled with the attuned presence of the therapist, access implicit memories and gently reorganize entrenched neural patterns.
In this workshop, you will: Learn how to turn awareness inward for self-study, and how mindfulness can infuse this exploration with a sense of curiosity and compassion. Explore ways the body archives experience and expresses our deepest beliefs about life.  Practice using mindful experiments and the body to identify and eventually transform unconscious, limiting core beliefs.

The workshop will consist of a balance of talks, experiential exercises, discussion and personal reflection, with an emphasis on skills that can be readily applied following the workshop. This workshop offers the opportunity to experience the Hakomi method of psychotherapy. It is suitable for those working therapeutically with clients and those wishing to deepen their own self understanding. It will be of value to psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists and other practitioners who are interested in learning more about Hakomi or are considering enrolling in the Hakomi Professional Training.

Note: This workshop is a prerequisite for the Level 1 Professional Hakomi training.

MINDFULNESS, LOVING PRESENCE, and EMBODIMENT

With: Julia Corley, LMBT., Certified Hakomi Teacher

Location: DanceLAB, Prague, Czech Republic

Dates: 7-9, July 2017

Schedule:  Friday 17.30-20.30, Saturday 10.00-18.00, Sunday 09.00-15.00

Cost: 260€ if registered by 1, June 2017, 290€ thereafter. The price includes instruction and materials. Meals and accommodations are not included

This workshop will introduce you to the basic principles and skills of the Hakomi Method as presented by Hakomi Institute. The method is an elegant and highly effective form of mindfulness-centered, somatic therapy designed to support self-discovery, healing and growth. Both therapist and client use mindful awareness to study the core organizers of experience–beliefs about ourselves, our relationships, and the world. We use “Little Experiments” in mindfulness to gently unearth our implicit beliefs and the hidden barriers to getting more of what we want in life. The curiosity, warmth, presence, and compassion of the therapist, what we call “Loving Presence”, creates a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for the client to explore themselves like never before. Clients are viewed as being whole, intelligent, creative, and resilient, rather than as problems that need to be fixed. The body is a trusted source of information on this journey, and the aim is to restore a sense of embodied wholeness, a deep re-membering of who we are. You will learn basic skills that have immediate personal and professional application in psychotherapy, counseling, and clinical social work, which may also be integrated with bodywork and other related modalities.

In this workshop you will learn:

• The practice of loving presence and how it can transform the therapeutic relationship

• The dynamic use of mindfulness and how to integrate it into sessions

• How to use the Hakomi principles of nonviolence, mindfulness and mind-body holism to increase safety and the cooperation of the unconscious

• How to read and contact subtle, somatic cues in the body and our habitual patterns

• How to use this information to create safe, yet powerful access routes to unconscious material
