The Power of Loving Presence

Workshop

About

An Introduction to Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy
Join us in London for an introduction to the basic principles and skills of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy with a focus on Loving Presence.
Loving Presence is the context for Hakomi sessions, the state of being of the therapist, and a powerful healing intervention on its own. It increases the heartfelt enjoyment of the therapist and is a prophylaxis against burnout.
This workshop will introduce you to the basic principles and skills of the Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy as presented by Hakomi Institute. The method is an elegant and highly effective form of mindfulness-centered, somatic therapy designed to support self-discovery, healing and growth. Both therapist and client use mindful awareness to study the core organizers of experience: beliefs about ourselves, our relationships, and the world.

Who will be teaching?

julia-min
Certified Hakomi Therapist and Trainer
Julia Corley
Julia  is a Certified Hakomi Trainer and Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Massage and Bodywork Therapist

What will you learn?

The curiosity, warmth, presence, and compassion of the therapist, what we call “Loving Presence,” creates a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for the clients to explore themselves like never before. Clients are viewed as being whole, intelligent, creative, and resilient rather than as problems that need to be fixed.

The body is a trusted source of information on this journey, and the aim is to restore a sense of embodied wholeness, a deep remembering of who we are. You will learn basic skills that have immediate personal and professional application in psychotherapy and counseling, which may also be integrated with bodywork and other related modalities.

In this workshop you will learn and practice how to:

  • Integrate active mindfulness into the therapy session
  • Use the practice of loving presence to enhance the therapeutic relationship
  • Use the Hakomi principles, including nonviolence in therapy, to create safety for the client in the therapeutic environment
  • Discover subtle, somatic cues in the body and its habitual patterns
  • Use this information to discover and contact core unconscious material
